We host rotations for approximately 800 medical students annually. This includes core clerkships for students from the UC San Francisco, UC Davis, Stanford University, Touro University, and California Northstate University Schools of Medicine. We also serve as a branch campus for the Boston University and Drexel University Schools of Medicine and offer sub-internship rotations for students from around the country to experience our residency programs.
Pre-medical Students Pathway Programs
We support many pre-medical student pathway programs so students from middle school through college have the opportunity to gain exposure to medicine while receiving mentorship, leadership skills and development, and research opportunities. We also sponsor scholarship programs and host Connect at KPNC, a networking platform that provides opportunities for mentoring, networking, collaborating, and connecting.

Research
Our residents and fellows receive robust support in research and other scholarly activities during their training with us. This includes mentorship with nationally-renowned faculty, support from dedicated Research Project Managers at each site, and biostatistical and analytic consulting from our Division of Research Biostatistical Consulting Unit.
Simulation and Assessment
We are currently developing the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Simulation and Education Center. This world-class simulation center and adjoining event center will provide hands-on and competency-based interdisciplinary training that meets regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Scholarships for Medical Students
We are proud of Kaiser Permanente’s social mission, research, clinical expertise, and leadership efforts in helping communities thrive. As part of this mission, we recognize the potential of future physicians by offering scholarships to rising fourth-year medical students selected for their commitment to underserved communities.
